SERVICE DOG TRAINING

A purpose.
A partner. A path forward.

More than skills.

DIFFERENT TASKS. PERSONAL PURPOSE.

Types of service dog work

Explore common roles and task examples, then call to discuss which training goals fit your needs and your dog.

01

Mobility assistance

Retrieving dropped objects or bringing a needed item can help a handler with a mobility disability navigate daily routines.

02

Psychiatric & PTSD support

Specific trained actions may interrupt a psychiatric episode or prompt a medication routine, based on the handler’s disability-related needs.

03

Medical alert

Some service dogs are trained to signal a medical change, such as high or low blood sugar. Alert tasks are specific to the individual.

04

Seizure & medical response

Response work focuses on assistance during or after an episode, such as bringing a phone or medication. Response tasks are distinct from advance alerts.

05

Hearing assistance

Trained alerts help a person who is deaf or hard of hearing notice important sounds or the presence of another person.

06

Guide & vision assistance

Guide work supports navigation and related tasks for a person who is blind or has low vision.

Your needs lead the conversation.
Let’s discuss the tasks and training options that fit your situation.

GOOD QUESTIONS

Before we
say hello.

A few things you might be wondering.

How do I start service dog training?

Start with a conversation. Call us to discuss your needs, your dog, and the tasks you have in mind. We’ll talk through which training options fit your situation and what the next steps could look like.

Is a service dog the same as an emotional support dog?

No. Under the ADA, a service dog performs trained work or tasks related to a person’s disability. Comfort from a dog’s presence alone does not qualify. Psychiatric service dogs perform specific trained actions. Read the ADA’s explanation ↗

Do you only train service dogs?

Nope! We also offer puppy foundations, everyday obedience, and other training services. Tell us what you have in mind.
